  • WE ARE LIVE!

    Hell yeah!

I finally pressed publish, it’s felt weird prepping to at least have a skeleton of a site but as I say lots – here we are! Certainly a good motto to live by, time only moves forwards and whats happened can’t be undone (apart from the entire page I accidentally deleted OOPS….)

I’ve had some adventures since claimed the domain, the big one being a weekend trip out to Millport for Millportloco. One hell of an event, and a superb christening for the Mulo:

Starting Saturday morning I whisked myself down to Haymarket to hop onto a not too crowded (comparitively) ScotRail train to Glasgow. I’ve never napped so goooooood. A quick swapover then had us on our way through to Largs on a not so uncrowded train, a little miffed I didn’t take pics of the debauchery in the bike storage but trust me those things were stacked HIGH.

Largs is an odd town, and I’m from Barrow. That’s saying something.

Luckily, my first ever ferry to a Scottish Island awaited – it didn’t last very long (it felt like a minute, wouldn’t be suprised if it was). Once we landed a superb cycle from the ferry port through to town was ahead of us, where our meet was happening on the old port. Some place like. And a lovely group of folk welcomed us in. The yap was yapping, beers flowing (until Ayr’s finest bacon rolled up), and boy did that BBQ smell good. I didn’t set too bad on my lap either (stats below).

The rest is a little foggy…. Let’s just say the police didn’t stop all of us from drinking the rest of our beers. But here’s what I do recall!

Sam is one hell of a DJ, and man I love house music. Spice boy allegations forever unbeaten. But what better than a private beach with a private DJ? One with a private toilet…. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for a scenic pee, but a log drop on sand ain’t fun and I AIN”T DOING IT. Praise the lord for Millport AFC’s WC.

ANYWHOMST”VE. I have loads to say, but not the space to write it – or the knowhow I’m sure the structure will form itself the more I go on. But for now, that a yap!

  • Hello World! – The 12th Link

    MAY 12th! This sites birthday!

Also, the anniversary of the day I crashed my bike in turn sending me to the hospital – it was merely a flesh wound! (2023)

And secondly, the day I did the Fred Whitton Challenge. A good effort! (2024)

Why care? Good question…. It needs a little context.

It’s 6am, 12th of May 2024. I’ve nearly shit myself twice from the nerves, all I can taste is pesto pasta from carb cramming during the car journey on the way to Grasmere. Then the little voice starts – “this time last year you crashed your bike… I wonder if it will happen again today”.

I didn’t. I finished that ride! In 9 hours and 30 minutes too, and I cycled the whole way up Hardknott pass. And yes, it was my personality for a couple of months afterwards.

My point being that my brain has funny ways of linking memories together, and May the 12th seemed set in my mind to become the day something big would happen on the bike. As sweet as that may be, it has meant many rides seem to get cut off from being remembered because the “12th link” (or their lack of link I suppose.

This website is here for me to make note of the rides that don’t get locked in my brain by the 12th link, or any other odd way of remembering through semantic links. This website is here to catch the memories as they fall out my sieve head.
